Malia Obama definitely made a fashion statement this weekend!
The 18-year-old First Daughter hit Budweiser’s Made in America Festival in Philly over Labor Day weekend and she sported a very serious shirt that read, “Smoking Kills.”
The T-shirt, which appeared to be handwritten in black marker, was definitely a nice plug for the dangers of smoking, especially at a music festival where many concert-goers are often lighting up.
She teamed her statement-making skirt with short jean shorts, a brown belt, vintage sneakers, a red ball cap and a backpack. Malia could definitely have been making a statement on a personal level with her shirt. Earlier this summer she was accused of smoking at Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago. In a video, she appears to be taking a drag on something at the fest although footage was never clear enough to tell exactly what it was. The White House never addressed it.
The political daughter was spotted enjoying the concert lineup on Sunday which included Coldplay, Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros, and Chance The Rapper. Malia also wasn’t the only person with political ties at the major fest. President Bill Clinton was spotted backstage at the concert talking to Beyonce.
Malia has definitely been hitting the music festival circuit this summer. Earlier this year she was spotted at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago rocking several different bright colored frocks and a series of jean shorts teamed with T-shirts.
Whether or not her new shirt is a bit controversial, Malia knows how to make both a fashion and health statement. And more power to her for taking a stand this weekend at the festival.
